What does it mean to hire the best you can?

We’ve always heard to grow a business you have to hire the best people.  But what does “the best” really mean?  I believe that competence just isn’t enough.  Trust is probably the biggest issue for me in a team member. 

We all want employees, bosses, and co-workers that “have each other’s back’s” and do things that are for the good of the organization.  I like this article because I do believe that with competence and trust everything else will follow. 

So here’s my takeaway, when looking for a job or a new team member, look to situations where trust is valued.  What I think is lacking in the article, that perhaps we can explore here together, is how to build that trust.  What do you think?
